Had a 23-minute OR note yesterday where the doc said “ileum” for bowel resection and later “ilium” for the pelvis, and the voice rec confidently normalized both to “ilium.” Anyone else keep a mental tripwire for that switch, or do you rely purely on context to catch it?
After any ‘bowel resection’ case, I run a quick Ctrl+F sweep for ‘ilium’ and use a tiny Word macro to temporarily highlight it so I can flip to ‘ileum’ where appropriate; it’s saved me on those voice rec normalizations in long notes like your 23‑minute OR. Only caveat: I double-check pelvic lines so I don’t undo a true ‘ilium’ — do you see it mangle ‘ileocecal’ too?
@etwa938 I run a Word wildcard search for ‘il?um’, then skim each hit with anchors — ‘resection/anastomosis’ usually ileum, ‘ASIS/iliac’ ilium — to catch the VR flips fast… It’s my left–right socks of anatomy; got any other anchor words you like?
