Why does '2/2' survive in 2026

‘2/2’ isn’t even faster to say than ‘due to,’ yet it keeps showing up and makes speech rec spit out ‘two slash two’ or ‘two to’ — I counted 11 times in one clinic hour yesterday. Mini-rant aside, do you auto-expand it in your expander or leave it and trust context?

yesterday. Mini-rant aside, do you auto-expand it in your expander or leave it I auto-expand 2/2 to “secondary to” only on word boundaries and block it when a digit touches either side (vitals/labs), which killed most “two slash two” errors. Caveat: in ortho where the fraction is legit, I use a manual shortcut like “s2” for the phrase — would that split setup work for you?

My take: I’d lean toward the simplest next step and see if it changes anything this week — if not, you’ve got a clear case to escalate. What would block you from trying that?

Same pain — after hearing “two slash two” 11 times in an hour, I fixed it upstream: in Dragon I added a vocab entry with written “secondary to” and spoken “two slash two/two two,” so SR outputs the words. I leave literal 2/2 only for typed labs/ratios and a quick QA scan catches any strays. @TechTerry, have you seen this collide with “2 of 2” page tags?

I feel you on the frustration with that. I end up manually correcting it sometimes, especially when it comes up repeatedly in a single hour! Ever tried adjusting your auto-expansion settings?
