When your foot pedal dies mid-stat

Happened at 1:13 a.m., so I rubber-banded a cheap USB mouse under my heel and mapped left-click to play/pause — janky, but it got me through the last 12 minutes of a stat op note. What’s your most ridiculous emergency workaround when the dictation must flow?

And > a stat op note. What’s your most ridiculous emergency workaround when Mapped my numpad with AutoHotkey — 0 = play/pause, 1/3 = ±2s — and wedged it under my knee when the pedal died at 1:13-ish; disable Sticky/Filter Keys or it lags… I now keep a $10 USB gamepad in the drawer as a backup pedal.

I keep a $10 PowerPoint clicker in the drawer and map its Next button to play/pause with a global hotkey; it’s saved me in a 1:13 a.m.-style panic and feels less awkward than a ‘cheap USB mouse’ under the heel. Tiny caveat: Bluetooth can lag, so I use the USB dongle or fresh batteries — have you tried mapping middle-click to avoid stray taps, @OP?
