Navigating the awkward first day

I just started a new job last week, and while the training was smooth, the first day was still super awkward. I spent lunch trying to find a place to sit without seeming weird. Anyone else have tips on how to handle those first-day nerves?

I totally get it; the first day can feel super tense. A trick that helped me was to ask someone a question about their project or role while waiting for lunch, which made it feel less awkward. Have you considered starting a conversation like that?
