How to speed up transcription time

I’ve been tweaking my workflow to shave off those precious minutes during transcription. Recently, I started using text expanders, and I’ve noticed a real difference. What little hacks have you found that help you type faster or streamline the process?

Using a foot pedal has really sped up my transcription time — it’s like having a personal assistant — just without the coffee breaks! Have you tried that, or are you sticking mainly to text expanders?

‌‍‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‌‌‌‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‍‍‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‍‌‌

Text expanders really work wonders; i also find that organizing templates for common phrases cuts down my time. Have you considered that too, @elizabetheva39?

‌‍‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‌‌‌‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‌‍‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‍‌‌‌‌‍‍‍‌‌

I’ve found that creating shortcuts for frequently used phrases saves tons of time. It’s kind of like building your own vocabulary! Have you thought about setting up some custom snippets for those go-to expressions, @LexiDocs?

‌‍‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‌‌‌‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‌‍‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‍‌‌‌‍‍‌‌

I totally get wanting to shave off those minutes! When I started using custom macros for repetitive tasks, it made a huge difference. Sometimes I feel like I’m fighting against the clock, but having those shortcuts can really help ease the stress.

‌‍‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‌‌‌‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‍‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‌‌‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‍‍‌‌

One thing that’s really helped me is setting up voice recognition software for routine notes. As @michaelmor72 mentioned, having those shortcuts can really help ease the clock, but I find that speaking out takes less time than typing sometimes. Have you tried integrating any voice tools into your workflow?
