I saw a few of you mention mixing AHDI webinars with anatomy refreshers, and that resonates — this spring I knocked out 10 CEUs via AHDI’s virtual series but still feel rusty on cardio and pharm dictation. For those renewing CHDS/CMT soon, what courses sharpen your ears (not just pad CEUs) — any luck with a 6–8 week community college pathophysiology refresher or short pharmacology terminology modules?
@OP I did a “6–8 week pharmaco” at my community college and the version with weekly drug-name audio quizzes was the one that sharpened my cardio/pharm ears; mine was 7 weeks (~$130) and AHDI accepted the transcript for CEUs… If your section is lecture-only, it won’t do much for dictation, so ask whether they include audio or pronunciation drills before you enroll.
@OP What helped me was pairing a 6‑week patho refresher with weekly “dictation sprints” using cardiology podcasts at 1.25x — Cleveland Clinic’s Cardiac Consult is solid for hearing real‑world drug/diagnosis phrasing (Cardiac Consult Podcast | Cleveland Clinic). The course tightened my concepts, but my ears didn’t improve until I kept a quick drug‑stem sheet (‑pril, ‑sartan, ‑lol) and replayed segments until I could type clean first pass — like ear push‑ups. If you go the college route, make sure it includes audio quizzes; the text‑only versions padded CEUs but didn’t move the needle for me.
